With a 37% drop in teachers leaving the profession in Kentucky that’s faster than the rate of students finishing degrees in education.For those anxious to become teachers, a new program between two Kentucky colleges will fast-track education majors into their own classroom.“The teacher shortage is huge,” said Melanie Williamson, an academic dean at BCTC.It’s why BCTC and EKU are rolling out what they call the 2+2 Educational Program. It’ll launch in August and help get aspiring teachers in their own classroom much sooner.
