Police Chase

Two people were taken into custody after a driver led a number of police agencies on a 23-mile chase along U.S. 23 in Johnson and Floyd counties. It all began early Wednesday morning several miles north of Paintsville, when the sheriff’s office attempted to first pull over a car driven by 22-year-old Benjamin Anderson, of Van Lear.Instead, the car sped away, heading into Floyd County, where Kentucky State Police, Prestonsburg and Martin city police, and District 2 Floyd County Constable Gary Nelson joined the pursuit.Officials say Anderson attempted to take the exit onto Route 114 when he reached Prestonsburg, but hit the guardrail and continued on U.S. 23 instead. It all ended a few miles later, across from the Bull Creek Trade Center, when Anderson pulled over and surrendered.
