New Indictments Filed Against Pikeville Doctor
Prosecutors on Friday released a superseding indictment against a Pikeville doctor and his ex-office manager.
Dr. Scotty Akers and Serissa Stamper initially faced seven federal charges. Now, the pair face five additional charges, as well as a sixth against Akers.
Federal investigators said yesterday that two used Facebook accounts to chat with friends and patients, who would then pick up prescriptions from Akers’ house. The same indictment that came down Friday accused Akers of lying to a DEA agent.
A trial is set for January 2.
