N. Laurel HS Teacher Wins National Contest, Lands K Grant for School

North Laurel High School is getting a $10,000 computer lab grant after one of their own won a national contest.

Melanie Alsip, a teacher at North Laurel, was one of five nationwide winners of the ‘Real Teacher of the Year’ Contest sponsored by Rack Room Shoes.

That money will go towards the purchase of a dozen new touch-screen desktop computers as well as three iPads.

Alsip also gets something for herself as part of the prize- free shoes for a year.
