Has Your Driver’s License Expired?

Clay County city officials say the number of expired driver’s licenses in their county has increased in the past year. The government stopped sending notices in the mail reminding people to get their license renewed to cut down on cost but since then more and more people are forgetting to visit the DMV when their licenses expire.Since November, 296 people are driving with expired licenses in Clay County alone. The clerk’s office says it is trying to contact those living in the area to let them know their licenses have expired but the list is getting longer and longer. If you go more than a year past the expiration date without getting your driver’s license renewed, penalties will occur.
